Innovation Dialogues on Complexity

Wageningen International has been organizing and hosting innovation dialogues in global development about the complexities of social, economic and political change.  Discussion, dialogue and learning amongs scientists, practitioners and policy makers are key to these events.

  • The Navigating Complexity dialogue (2008) introduced the idea of complexity and its implications.

  • The upcoming Strategy in Complexity dialogue (2009) will focus on practical ways to be effective in complex situations.

 

 


Upcoming  Innovation Dialogue "How to Be Strategic in The Face of Complexity"  

The dialogue will address questions like:  

  • What interventions make sense when much is unpredictable and uncertain?
  • What is possible when the biggest impacts come from the unforeseen or serendipitous events.   
  • Are there alternatives to linear ways of planning, strategizing and making policy?    

 Keynote speakers include:

  • David Snowden  – The founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Cognitive Edge. 
  • Lisa Jordan– Executive Director of the Bernard van Leer Foundation.
  • Alejandro Litovsky  – Head of the Pathways to Scale programme at Volans,
  • John Young – Director of Programmes at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI). 

The dialogue  will be shaped by inspiring and challenging insights from an exceptional group of key note presenters. Their inputs will be complemented by workshop contributions from practitioners and academics working on the challenges of change and complexity.
